Striving for social inclusion and equity

We do most of our philanthropic work through the Ilkka Paananen Foundation. Founded in 2015, the organisation’s mission is to increase social inclusion and equity. We want to provide children, youth, and families with equal opportunities to live a fulfilling life, regardless of background.

We want to back the most promising, ambitious initiatives that create tangible, measurable change. We believe that technology greatly shapes our world and thinking, and we’re passionate about supporting innovative ideas in that field.

While we’re always keen to learn more about our areas of focus, we’re unable to consider or accept unsolicited grant applications.

The foundation works to ensure that, regardless of their background, every child has the opportunity to enjoy hobbies, believe in their future, and feel like they belong.

Some of our most significant initiatives include We Foundation and Wondershop. We Foundation was founded in 2015 by Supercell entrepreneurs Ilkka Paananen and Mikko Kodisoja. The foundation works to ensure that, regardless of their background, every child has the opportunity to enjoy hobbies, believe in their future, and feel like they belong.

The team is currently developing a platform for impact measurement: the goal is that in the future, all organisations working with social inclusion can verify the positive impact and reach of their activities.

Wondershop is a game studio that was spun out of We Foundation in 2020. The team builds social multiplayer games that are played in real-world locations, bringing children together.
